  • Christmas Fayre

    Thank you to all who attended the Ysgol Gwynedd Christmas Fayre this year.  A total of £1200 was raised on the night and this amount will rise with the proceeds from the raffles at the Christmas concerts. An even bigger big thank you must go to Mrs Cottam for co-ordinating the event along with the hardworking PTA. What a great way to start the Christmas festivities.
  • Ysgol Maes Edwin / Flint Mountain School Consultation

    Parent/Carer/Guardians/Pupil/Governor/School Council/Staff Members and prospective parents,

     

    Flintshire County Council has today published a Formal Consultation Document both adult and children and young persons along with impact assessments for the proposal to close Ysgol Maes Edwin, Flint Mountain as of 31st August 2016 with pupils transferring to other schools in the local area subject to parental preference .  The documents are available to view on the Flintshire County Council website.     The Consultation period will run from Wednesday, 21st October 2015 to Wednesday, 2nd December 2015.

     

     

     

  • Urdd Proclamation

    Today, Flint was officially proclaimed as the  venue for the Urdd National Eisteddfod in 2016.The week long event will be located at Flint High School and will run during the 'whit week' half term.

  • Mr Neil Owen Sports Award

    Erica Roberts, who moves up to Flint High School in September, is the first recipient of the Mr Neil Owen Sports Award. Mr Owen, who retires today after 37 years of service, has been heavily involved in sport at the school since day one and in order to acknowledge Mr Owen's commitment  to the school a sporting award has been created. Erica has participated in many sports throughout her time in the Juniors and has  competed at county level. She has a positive attitude and is an excellent team player. Here is a picture of Erica receiving the award from Mr Owen.

    Thank you and good luck to all the Year 6 pupils who say farewell to Ysgol Gwynedd and prepare for their move to High School in September. You will be greatly missed by all the staff but remember to look forward to the next challenge in your life.

    The Year 6 pupils performed their leavers' service to parents this evening - It was certainly an emotional roller coaster!!

    Well done to each and every pupil for your professional performance and wonderful singing. A big thank you to Miss Jones, Mr Salvoni, Miss Hughes and Miss Palmer for co-ordinating the service.

  • Flint Mayor's Parade

    A group of Year 5 and 6 pupils participated in the parade and church service to acknowledge the serving mayor of Flint, Mr Terry Renshaw. The parade brought to an end a week long festival for the town of Flint. Thank you for looking so smart and promoting a positive image of the school - you were a credit to Ysgol Gwynedd.
  • Trainee Teacher from Switzerland

    For the past two weeks Ysgol Gwynedd have hosted Mr Jan Ledergerber on his international placement.  Mr Ledergerber has been working closely with the staff and pupils in the Upper Junior department where he has been involved in leading on some language activities as well as helping out with sports days. He is nearing the end of his teaching course at the Pedagogic University of St Gallen and will soon qualify to become a teacher back in his native Switzerland. We wish Mr Ledergerber the best of luck in his future career. Diolch yn fawr iawn!
  • Flint's Got Talent

    After the hustle bustle of the school fayre Ysgol Gwynedd were busy preparing the hall for the annual Flint's Got Talent show. The event is part of the week long Flint festival and involves children of the town performing. The evening was well attended a great success and the pupils from Ysgol Gwynedd enjoyed showing off their cheerleading and creative dance routines as well as being part of the mass choir along with Flint High School and Ysgol Croes Atti. It was also great to see some ex-pupils and their band 'The Sidelights' ending the evening with some well known songs. Well done to all who participated.
  • Summer Fayre

    The school hosted a very successful summer fayre on what was the hottest day so far this year. The PTA worked tirelessly to turn the Foundation Phase yard into a summer market. A big thank you to Mrs Cottam for co-ordinating the event that raised over £1000.
